The Asteroid Mission
Students ages 9 to 14 in Brazil are being given the opportunity to study and apply STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts as well as robotics and programming in a replica of the surface of an Asteroid. The program includes having various obstacles and missions to be completed. The Asteroid Mission is guided by instructors trained in the United States.
As a design studio, we were challenged to design a rover for the program. The ideia was create something cooler than a cold learning prop. It has tell a story and inspire the kids while exposing the components.
We sought inspiration in nature to design a 3D printed exoskeleton
to house the components and hold four wheels.
